She's been a Catholic school girl, a lifeguard, lived on Guam where she taught English to Gaumanian children, mother of five children, social worker at a home for unwed mothers, an alcoholism counselor, co-founder of ADDS, served on the State Board that certifies other chemical dependency counselors.
I admire her so.
›› How And Why We Began
The Wellness Ministry at First Christian Church was started in 1993 at a time when Managed Care began limiting coverage for many forms of counseling. Bobbi Way, in conjunction with Pastor Bruce Barkhauer and approval by the church board, began a ministry that offered affordable counseling to those seeking guidance for some of life’s more difficult issues.
The ministry has facilitated dozens of individuals and couples over the years as they made the passage through difficult spiritual/emotional journeys. Borrowing from Christianity, psychology, philosophy and practical experience, the Wellness Ministers offer counseling services to the collective community, for our sake and for their own.
›› About Bobbi Way
Known as "Bobbi" to family, friends and peers, she brings an array of expertise to the Wellness Ministry. For eighteen years she worked for Alcohol and Drug Dependency Services (ADDS) as a counselor and Clinical Director. She was a counselor at Highland Center Associates of Medina for nine years. For nineteen years she was a trainer and faculty member of The Southern Academy, a national Disciples of Christ leadership development program.
She has been a member of First Christian Church since 1975 and has served in many leadership roles. Her primary expertise has been working with people in a group setting. She is recognized by Medina Mental Health Professionals as an authority on groups. She believes that all persons have inherent worth and that trust and well-being are necessary for their spiritual well-being. She currently facilitates holistic learning groups that are designed for personal growth and spiritual well-being.

We Wellness Ministry Counselors have seen an ongoing reduction of
affordable mental health services for the past 20 years.
We have been saddened by the number of people we see 'falling through the cracks' because they cannot afford professional services.
